Friends of the Library Scholarship

The Friends of Mt. Lebanon Public Library generously offers a scholarship each year to recognize a high school senior from Mt. Lebanon who exhibits community leadership through volunteering at the Library. The scholarship award starts at a minimum of $2000, and reviewed each year to determine if the final amount may be increased.

Application Materials

Eligibility 

Applicants must be:                              

  • Students who are Mt. Lebanon residents, who have a minimum of 55 hours of volunteer service at Mt. Lebanon Public Library by March 30 of the application year, or 100 hours over the course of the student’s library volunteer career.                            
  • Graduating high school or home school seniors.                            
  • Students attending a 2-year to 4-year accredited college, university, or trade/technical school.

Requirements

Full application must be submitted by March 30 to the library volunteer coordinator to include:

  • A completed application form.
  • A 500-word essay addressing, “How has your volunteering at Mt. Lebanon Public Library affected your academic and personal growth?"
  • Two letters of recommendation for the Friends’ Scholarship, one from a library staff member and one from a person of the candidate's choice.
