Pumpkin Path
Stay tuned for the return of our Pumpkin Path in October! Take a walk around the library grounds & try out our festive sidewalk obstacle course! Do it in costume for extra fun!

STEAM with Miss Jena: Halloween Art Lab via Zoom
Monday, October 25 Ages 2-4: 3pmAges 5-7: 4pmAges 8-10: 5pm.
Calling all witches, warlocks and mad scientists! Concoct a bubbling brew, transcribe an incantation or configure a creature from your imagination. Combine a variety of creative materials with principles of engineering and science in this year's Halloween Art Lab. Generously funded by Matt’s Maker.

Story Spooktacular!
Wednesday, October 26, 6:30-8pm.

Register for 6:30-7pm.
Register for 7:00-8pm

Join us for story trick or treating with your favorite librarians outside the library! Walk from station to station to hear some spine-tingling tales. Costumes are welcome. For ages 3-7 and family.

Afterschool STEAM Club: Halloween Fun
Thursday, October 28th, 4pm.
Let off some STEAM at the library’s new afterschool club! Have fun with friends each week as you explore and learn about robots, circuits, coding, animal science and more! For kids in 4th & 5th grade. Generously funded by Matt’s Maker. This club meets on Thursdays, 4pm. September 16-November 11. You must register for each session individually. In October these programs will be in the library courtyard and in case of rain will be cancelled.

Scary Tales
Thursday October 28, 7pm.
Grab a flashlight, don your Halloween costume, & join Miss Rachel for some favorite chilling scary stories in the library courtyard. Recommended for kids in 1st grade & up.


Drawing Monsters! A Spooky Art Crash Course (on Zoom)
Wednesday, October 6- 7pm.
Join nationally-syndicated comic artist and illustrator Rick Stromonski for a live Zoom workshop to design your own spooky creatures! For kids in grades 5-6. Generously funded by Matt’s Maker. Register online.

Talking Comics: Baba Yaga’s Assistant (on Zoom)

A middle school graphic novel book club! This month we will be discussing Baba Yaga’s Assitant by Marika McCoola and Emily Carroll, then constructing our own Baba Yaga houses! Contact the library to receive a copy of the book and craft kit. Register online.

Cottagecore Crafters Night: Cozy Cryptids (on Zoom)
Tuesday October 26th, 7pm
Add some coziness to your room or your wardrobe with other teen crafters. This month we will be designing cozy cryptid headbands to celebrate the spooky season! Register online to reserve your kit for pick-up!


California Gothic/Crime (on Zoom)
Friday, October 8th & Friday, October 15th 10-11:30am.

You Certainly Have a Very Fast Answer for Everything: California Gothic/Crime is an absolutely wonderful take on all that sunlight, all that corruption. Join author and lecturer Abby Mendelson for discussions on Dashiell Hammett, The Maltese Falcon; Raymond Chandler, The Big Sleep; Ross MacDonald, The Galton Case; and James Cain, Double Indemnity. This two-part program concludes on October 15th.

Local Hauntings: The Witch of Monongahela (on Zoom)

Local Author and Duquesne Univ. Archivist Thomas White will talk about his new book "The Witch of the Monongahela" and tell other local ghost stories!
