Register for Kids Summer Reading!
Sign up now to participate in summer reading fun! This year, we'll be using Beanstack software to log reading and activities. Did you participate in the 2021 Summer Reading at the library? If so, you can use your same Beanstack account to begin logging this year. New to Beanstack? Signing up for a new account and downloading the app only takes a few minutes. Once you're signed up, you can also download a paper tracking form if you'd prefer.
After you're registered, make sure to stop by the Children's Desk for your first small prize!

Logging Your Reading
Once your Beanstack account is set up, you decide how you want to log your reading to earn points - choose from minutes, pages, days, or books completed!
- 20 minutes = 1 point
- 5 pages = 1 point
- I read today = 1 point
- 1 book = 1 point
Learn more about logging your reading here.
Stop by the Children's Library and show us your progress for a small weekly prize! When your reach 20 points, you get a book to keep.
Learning Challenges
In addition to reading, kids can earn points by completing library activities through Beanstack. Play, read, and learn with our summer challenges! Try reading a new subject or genre, make art inspired by books, read with friends and pets, and more. You can earn a Historian, Naturalist, Actor, Leader, or Water badge along the way!
Kids Programs at the Library
We have tons of programs and events happening all summer long at the library. Register for storytimes, ocean STEM programs, Mer-camp, and more! Registration is required for all programs.

Log your hours read or number of books read (depending on your personal preference) using the Beanstack app on your phone (or Beanstack webpage on your computer) anytime between Monday June 6th and Monday August 8th. You can log each time you read, or log all of your reading at once.
Learn more about logging your reading here.
Remember, if you are reading summer required reading for school, you should count these as double the amount of time/books!
Once you earn 30 points, you are eligible to receive a free YA book of your choice. You can choose from several different titles in YA fiction, non-fiction, manga, graphic novels, and non-fiction graphic novels.
There are three ways to enter to our grand prize drawings ($25 gift cards from local businesses). These are to log your reading, attend library events, and complete teen "bonus rounds" in the Beanstack app. These grand prizes will be drawn the second week of August. There is no limit to the number of times you can enter the grand prize drawings!
Teen Summer Reading library events will be happening every week, all summer! These events are free to participate in! You must register online in advance to attend. The full calendar of teen events with their signup sheets can be found here: https://mtlebanonlibrary.org/teens
Good luck and Happy Summer!
Read the Stacks Adult Summer Reading Challenge
This summer we want to make it as easy as possible for you to participate in our adult summer reading program.
You only have to register here.
Once you have registered for the program, stop by the adult reference desk to pick up your summer reading tote bag and Read the Stacks challenge list.
Inside your Read the Stacks challenge list there are four categories, each with multiple challenges:
- Delicious Adventures
- A Glimpse of the Past
- Magical Destinations
- Small Press Surprises
Find a book that fulfills a challenge and start reading. Once you've read beyond the first chapter, you've completed the challenge and can circle it in the booklet. Return the booklet to the adult reference desk the week of August 8 to be eligible for the grand/runner up prizes.
Need Some Help?
We have created several book lists to help you find your perfect read for each and every challenge! Our book lists are organized by category, and copies are available at the library or on this webpage below. In addition, we invite you to browse our stacks and look for the special bookmarks we've placed inside books that fulfill different challenges. You may just stumble across a hidden gem!
Share Your Experience!
We love to read reviews! Email reviews to mtleblibrarian@einetwork.net (Please put "Summer Reading Review" in the subject of the email.)
And
Please talk to us about what you're reading! Library staff will be wearing buttons that indicate what genres they love to read or are currently reading. If you have suggestions, please share! If you want a recommendation, just ask!
Prizes!
Weekly winners will be randomly selected from all adult summer reading registrants (winners will be notified by phone). Grand prize and runner-up prizes will be awarded by the last week in August.
