Book Cellar Staff
The Book Cellar is a wonderful way to contribute to the Mt. Lebanon community welcoming and assisting customers in the used bookstore. Clerks are trained to handle money transactions, answers questions, and restock shelves. Sorters evaluates and sorts books that may go on sale in The Book Cellar store. (Limited availability for sorters). All applicants must be 18 years or older.
Volunteers are needed to provide instruction for basic computer skills, software and programming languages.
Gardeners are needed from April through November, to help maintain the library gardens, courtyard and surrounding areas. They meet on Monday mornings from 9:30 – 12 noon.
Readers’ theater volunteers interact with one another, reading from scripts as a group, performing for senior living facilities and other organizations throughout the South Hills area. No costumes or stage settings involved. No sign up required. Join at any time. Rehearsals and performances generally held in the early afternoon. See schedule of meetings on the library calendar.
Shelf Reading & Collection Shifting
Volunteers are needed to help keep the library stacks neat and orderly. Training is necessary to teach the proper placement of library items and dusting of the shelves. Volunteers are scheduled on a regular basis for 1-2 hours each week. No evenings or weekends. Applicants must be able to walk, sit, stoop, stand, reach, retrieve and shelve library materials using a step stool if necessary. Training is required, a commitment of 10 hours or more is expected.
