MT. LEBANON PUBLIC LIBRARY

POLICY NUMBER:    10A
TITLE:                       Benefit Policy for Regular Part-Time Employees
DATE ISSUED:          December 18, 2003
REPLACES:              Policy of 2/15/2001 and all previous versions

PURPOSE: To describe the benefits offered to regular part-time library employees. To be considered a regular part-time employee, an individual must be scheduled to work for 20 hours or more per week on a regular basis over the course of the year.

STATEMENT OF POLICY:

1.   ANNUAL  LEAVE

ANNUAL  LEAVE (CALCULATED INTO HOURS)

Part-Time Librarian

-Total of 10.5 “days” per year, cumulative up to 21 “days”, effective from the first day of employment  (accruing on a prorated basis for the first year).

Part-Time Clerk

-Total of 7.5  “days” per year, cumulative up to 15 “days”, effective from the first day of employment (accruing on a prorated basis for the first year).

To calculate leave, use the following formula:
-Divide hours regularly scheduled per week by 5, and round if necessary.
-Multiply by the number of leave “days” allowed annually.
-For example, for a clerk:    20 hours per week divided by 5 “days” = 4
4 X 7.5 leave “days” = 30 hours leave

NOTE: An employee loses all accrued leave upon cessation of employment.

2.  OTHER INCLUDED BENEFITS

2.1    $2,500 life insurance upon being hired, increased to $7,500 after 1 year.
