In addition to our offerings for those of low vision, the library offers the following related services.

Library Parking
  • Parking for disabled patrons is in front of the Library on Castle Shannon Boulevard. Disabled persons wishing to park in the rear of the building near the main entrance may do so. Please note, however, that these spaces are at an 8% grade, which is too steep to be officially designated handicapped parking. In either location, please display your placard.

Mobility Needs
  • For patrons with less mobility, the library offers the following devices and services:
    • Walkers with built-in seats
    • Baskets for books
    • Wheelchair for in-library use
    • Wheelchair-accessibile meeting rooms, study carrels and study rooms
    • Curb cuts
    • Aisles at least 36” wide
    • Accessible restrooms
    • Elevator

Hearing Impaired
  • For patrons who have difficulty hearing, the library offers the following devices and services:
    • Infrared transmitter headset listening system for use in meetings or programs
    • American Sign Language during programs, upon advance request
    • TTY machine and phone line for use by the hearing-impaired. Call 412-531-5268.
    • Wheelchair-accessibile meeting rooms, study carrels and study rooms
Donations Are Welcome
  • Additional equipment and materials will be very useful to disabled library patrons. Groups or individuals who are interested in donating such items should contact the Library at 412-531-1912.
