The 27th Annual Garden Tour benefiting Mt. Lebanon Public Library will be held on Sunday, July 9, 2017, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year’s tour will feature nine beautiful Mt. Lebanon gardens, a record number! The gardens feature a wide variety of western PA perennials and many varieties of annuals: waterfalls, fountains, ponds and swimming pools: hardscapes, including mosaic work; edible plants everything you would hope to find in a well-loved garden and many surprises as well.
Since 1991, the Garden Tour has been a significant source of funding for the library, raising over $508,400. This extraordinary sum demonstrates the level of community support the library enjoys and depends on.
Proceeds from the previous 26 Garden Tours have helped to expand the new library and to build the outdoor courtyard, and have provided books, audio-visual materials, magazines, programs, and technology for patrons of all ages.
This year we will use the proceeds for materials, programs, supplies, and improvements to the building. Our library is the center of the community and experiences heavy use. Proceeds from the Garden Tour support essential public services.
The tour will run from 11am-4pm on Sunday, July 9, rain or shine. Ticket cost is $15 and includes all nine gardens. Be sure to visit our plant sale (held at the library) and the Friends Book Cellar as well.
For the 13th year, the Library Board of Trustees will host our pre-tour event in the Library Courtyard. This year’s event – “Stardust Swing” - will feature the nationally recognized musicians of the Boilermaker Jazz Band and will be held from 7-9 pm on Saturday, July 8. Visit this page for more information and to buy tickets for “Stardust Swing”.
Tickets for the Garden Tour are on sale now at the circulation desk at the library and online below.
*Program booklets will be available at the library toward the end of June, and on the day of the tour at any of the garden locations.
